GYM STEPS
GYMNASTICS Foundation - Year 7
GYM Steps is an enjoyable carefully sequenced progression of lessons that develops each student's ability to enjoy and perform movement sequences combining effort, space, objects and people.
Student Achievement Certificates acknowledge learning of elements of movement and sequences for each year level F-7. They are a great record for students and teachers of the learning experiences that have progressively developed the physical competencies.
GYM Steps is directly linked with the Australian HPE Curriculum & has unique student-proven classroom activities (Class Reflections) that enhance learning in Math, English and Science.
LITTLE STEPS F-2
'Developing Foundation Movement Proficiencies'
Develops foundation movement proficiencies to land and travel safely, move smoothly in different ways and directions, jump and turn, and move together in simple sequences.
BIG STEPS 3-4 YEARS
'Building Fundamental Movement Proficiencies'
Builds further the fundamental movement proficiencies to perform a variety of safe landings, balances, rotations, jumps, swings and creative sequences with others.
GIANT STEPS 5-7 YEARS
'Advancing Movement Proficiencies'
Advances the movement proficiencies to design and perform more complex sequences with different landings, controlled dynamic and static balances, spins, turns, jumps and flight.

DANCE Steps are an exciting sequence of fun lessons that develop the creative and expressive rhythmic movement abilities in students. They provide the opportunity to explore how movement can be composed and performed in response to a range of stimuli such as equipment, beats, sounds, images, words and themes.
Achievement Certificates for each year level acknowledge the learning of rhythmic movement proficiencies in the students. They are a wonderful record of the development in each student of a rhythmic movement vocabulary as they explore and refine imaginative ways of moving both individually and corroboratively.

LITTLE STEPS F-2
'Developing Foundation Movement Proficiencies'
Reflects the natural spontaneity of rhythmic movements in young children and evokes joyful, playful involvement that enhances their innate rhythmic, creative and expressive movement proficiencies. It fosters the development and understanding of body awareness, space awareness, and effort awareness through simple action songs, nursery rhymes, folk dances and creative dance.
BIG STEPS 3-4 YEARS
'Building Fundamental Movement Proficiencies'
Progressively adds more challenging fun Hip Hop steps to make small and large group routines. The steps and routines are based around the portrayal of everyday activities in sports, leisure and vocations to highlight that everyday activities are expressive, rhythmical and able to be enjoyed by everyone. Students get to respond to their own and others' dances using physical and verbal communication.
GIANT STEPS 5-7 YEARS
'Advancing Movement Proficiencies'
These advanced Hip Hop steps and formations create more complex fun and challenging group routines. They are totally inclusive in an atmosphere of positive support and recognition for others' interpretations and involvement. The students use elements of dance to explore and practice choreographic, technical and expressive skills to display their routine to others.

SPORTS Steps are motivating fun lessons designed to evoke joyful and playful involvement in students that enhances their natural tendency to play games. They provide the opportunity to develop and practice a wide range of fundamental ball, games and sports skills in different settings with a wide variety of modified equipment.
Achievement Certificates are awarded each year to the students to acknowledge the learning of games, ball and sports skills proficiencies.

Develops fundamental games skills through active play and structured simple games using a wide variety of modified sports equipment. Ball awareness, rolling, underarm throwing and catching, throwing of different objects, bouncing, kicking, striking and playing minor games provide fun learning experiences.
BIG STEPS 3-4 YEARS
'Building Fundamental Movement Proficiencies'
Introduces in an engaging play-way the basic skills of the sports of Athletics, Hockey, Sofcrosse, Tennis & Softball. Equipment specifically designed & modified for each sport provides an enjoyable learning experience for the students. Minor games structured on the capabilities of the students consolidate the learning in a fun motivating way.
GIANT STEPS 5-7 YEARS
'Advancing Movement Proficiencies'
Builds on the foundation skills of each of the sports of Athletics, Hockey, Sofcrosse, Tennis & Softball in a motivating play practice way for enjoyable student learning. Depending on the progress of the students carefully modified games of the sports enable successful involvement in small groups to further enhance the developing skills.
