Graham Dodd
Graham and Ken Mooney co-founded TriSkills in 1990 from a shared vision to provide high-quality support programs in physical education that have learning, enjoyment and achievement as their foundation for success.
More...In addition to a doctorate of philosophy, a bachelor of arts and diplomas in both physical education and teaching, Graham has developed a new undergraduate program at the University of South Australia. He also provides media advice in the areas of curriculum development – health and physical education; human development; coaching principles; school physical education programs; and human motion, emotion and reasoning.
Graham’s passion to continue his long and deep interest in the contribution of human movement to learning, healthy growth, motor development, building strong positive individual and group identities, and personal health and wellbeing may be seen in his voluntary work with the Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation.
Ken Mooney
Managing Director Ken Mooney has been at the forefront ensuring that we grow as an organisation and expand across Australia. Teaching and coaching locally, interstate and internationally has provided the background to program, business and administration required in his role.
More...An accredited general gym course conductor, Ken has studied business maths, business communications and introductory accounting. He has held numerous coaching positions since 1980, including Australian Institute of Sport Satellite Coach, Australian Gymnastics Federation National Regional Coach and Assistant Coach for the Australian Junior Men’s Team.
Ken, having competed and been successful in national gymnastics since the 1970s, is passionate about ensuring that all children within our schools have the chance to do the same.
Wally Salinger
Wally joined us in 1993 as a teacher in the After Schools Booster program and is now the Client Services Manager.
More...Having run his own small businesses for 15 years, Wally completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physical Education) in 1992. He has attained accreditation in lifesaving, swimming, gymnastics, squash, basketball, baseball, netball, contemporary dance, trampoline sports, increasing access to sport for people with physical or intellectual disabilities, athletics, cricket, soccer and Australian Rules football.
Wally is passionate about instilling in future generations a love of sport and movement, allowing them to live happier, healthier lives. “At the heart of all education is movement; education through and education for quality movement,” he says.
Gary Black
TriSkills provides Gary the opportunity to practice the skills he honed during his tertiary education. He is passionate in his ownership of TriSkills Hawthorn ensuring integrity, honesty and ethical business practices are followed in all client and staff relationships.
More...Studying electronic engineering for 2 years, followed by 3 years of a secondary teaching degree in information technology and mathematics, and work in the field convinced him he did not like a regular office job. Gary designs and builds equipment and apparatus, programs and restructures computer systems within TriSkills Hawthorn to ensure the minimum time is spent ‘conducting’ business, allowing time to teach, train and grow his business.
A level 2 qualified gymnastics coach, course presenter, judge and trainee coach supervisor gives him the skill and ability to work in all levels of his business, teaching young children, training staff and working with industry professionals in curriculum development.
A successful competitive gymnastics coach, Gary’s personal testament to quality movement education is his 32 kg weight loss. His goal is to ensure all children have quality movement education and exposure to a sport he has grown to love; he has worked tirelessly at the Knox Gym Club. The resident handiman, Gary coaches Teen Gym on a weekly basis to encourage continuing participation at a time when social and peer group pressures see many young people leave the sport.
Kym and Kellie McLay
Amongst Kellie’s earliest memories are those of being in a TriSkills program as a toddler. Kym is a former competitive gymnast and trampolinist. He hold a 5th Dan Black Belt in Taekondo. As parents of young children, the foundation of gymnastics and gross motor movement provides them with a platform for operating TriSkills North Adelaide.
More...Kym who has played volleyball at a State League level and Australian Rules Football; ranks three road trips as a teacher of trampolining, ball sports and gymnastics into Arnhem Land’s indigenious schools and communities as one life’s highlights. Kellie enjoyed one trip as an eight year old! Kinder Gym as a toddler, ballet and competitive gymnastics during primary school and jazz dance participation instilled in Kellie the necessity to, ‘get kids moving.’ As her own children move through the development phases of 0 – 5 years, TriSkills movement education is part of their daily life.
Coaching qualifications form the expertise required to infuse the latest developments from neuroscientific research into existing and developing programs within TriSkills in-school programs. Kym highlights the importance of gymnastics, with many class teachers documenting enhanced learning after the conclusion of TriSkills lessons. As a mother, Kellie points out that, ‘The children of the 21st Century need what movement education provides, what TriSkills delivers; more than ever.’
Lorena Green
Participating in and coaching gymnastics has permeated Lorena’s life since the age of 10. Her experience as a teacher, coach, mother and business woman are seen in her passion for promoting the sport that has given her great pleasure.
More...Lorena is passionate about building a growing TriSkills St George, mindful of the financial pressures on families in Sydney’s south west. ‘I find that providing young people with the opportunity I have enjoyed in my career as a competitive gymnast, trampolinist and now as a teacher, coach and supervising mentor to young teachers; very satisfying,’ she says.
The supportive business structure of TriSkills gives her the ability to work child-friendly hours and has given her confidence to learn how to opperate a small business. Lorena’s teaching demonstrates the importance of quality physical education to other key learning areas of the curriculum, underpinned by her firm belief that quality movment education is a vital part of a balanced, loving childhood.
Julie Amanatidis
A physical education teacher with a bachelor’s degree in Human Movement (Physical and Health Education) seeking new directions and professional development was the reason Julie first became involved with teaching the TriSkills way.
More...Julie, the owner of TriSkills Kingsford, uses all her qualifications and experience to meet the program needs of some of TriSkills largest clients. With a focus on having children learn in a progressively structured lessons ensures skills are learned, goals achieved whilst children are having such a great time they don’t view it as ‘work’ or ‘learning’. ‘I know we are successful when I see children duplicating games or skills in their lunch and recess times,’ Julie says.
Leadership by example sees Julie teaching athletics, gymnastics, ball skills and swimming programs. Her positive approach creates a team environment that works to achieve the same educational goals, and impact on the lives of children in a whole generation. Julie gives willingly of her time, coaching grass roots tennis programs in inner Sydney, and has worked in remote tennis development in Coonabarabran during her school holidays.
Ryan Williamson
Unrivaled passion for sport, encompassing all major codes saw Ryan seek out TriSkills as a vehicle to teach, develop professionally and build a business to express his passion. Owning TriSkills Illawarra is the foundation for a lifelong career as a physical educator.
More...Undertaking a Certificate 3 in Recreation and Events Management, and teaching accreditation in Athletics, Gymnastics and Rugby provides Ryan with a broad knowledge and skill base from which he develops his primary school lesson content. On the job training has honed his class management. Teaching within a broad cross section of Sydney schools has provided the opportunity to implement exciting and challenging lessons that have skill based learning as their foundation.
Ryan promotes children’s exploration of new movement patterns and activities. He is motivated by his student’s sporting and academic achievement. Coaching rugby league juniors and a junior representative development squad at a local club allows Ryan to return his expertise to his local community.
